Protecting furniture for moving
When moving home it's very important to ensure that everything that's going to be moved is well protected and ready for moving.
Furniture is protected as much as possible whilst in the van with transit blankets and quilts, but if the furniture isn't wrapped while it's in your home then there is always the chance it may be scuffed and damaged whilst being moved to the van due to no protection.
We always recommend that any wooden furniture such as bookcases, wardrobes, chest of drawers and so on, have card folded around each corner and then covered with shrink wrap or bubble wrap. This is the only way to ensure they are protected safely ready for a removal service.
Items such as lampshades need removing from lamps and placed securely in appropriate boxes. Dining chairs need wrapping. Coffee tables, mirrors etc... they all need adequate protection.
Other items such as mattresses and sofas need sufficient covers to ensure they don't get scuffed or dirty from the move. Remember that these items are very big and it's almost impossible to move them without them coming into contact with walls or ceilings on the way out of your property and if the weather has been bad then this is only going to make matters worse. Ensure everything is covered efficiently prior to moving! This includes settee cushions being bagged or wrapped along with duvets and pillows.
